Our Community Programmes are designed to provide inclusive and accessible sporting opportunities that cater to the diverse needs of Cavan’s population. These initiatives range from beginner-friendly activities to targeted interventions for specific groups, such as older adults, people with disabilities, and youth, ensuring that everyone has the chance to enjoy the benefits of sport and physical activity.
Cavan Active Communities is an initiative to support local communities, groups and volunteers to develop and foster a culture of promoting sport and physical activity for their local community. The initiative is coordinated by Cavan Sports Partnership with the support of local clubs, facilities, Sport Ireland, Healthy Cavan and several other local organisations.
WIS Week 2025 took place from March 3rd to 9th, 2025, with International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th encapsulating the week. IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The campaign theme for IWD 2025 is “Accelerate Action—Collectively, we can Accelerate Action for gender equality.”

There’s never been a better time to get on a bike! Bike Week 2025 will run from Saturday, May 10th to Sunday, May 18th. It’s easy, fun and there’s something for everyone.
Enjoy a wide range of events from community and school cycles, fun bike festivals, safety workshops and much more.

HER Outdoors week aims to celebrate and encourage more females to get out and enjoy the benefits of being in the outdoors while bringing visibility to the opportunities for females to get involved in outdoor physical activity.
This week is all about providing more opportunities for ALL females to escape to the outdoors and try something new. For such a tiny island, there are so many incredible outdoor activities on offer and this should be celebrated to the fullest!

European Week of Sport aims to promote sport and physical activity in countries across Europe
The week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, the aim is to inspire Europeans to #BeActive on a regular basis and create opportunities in peoples’ everyday lives to exercise more.
Being Active doesn’t mean having to be part of a sports club, a gym, running marathons or cycling across Europe. Being Active can be running around playing with your children, grabbing a walk with work colleagues on your lunch break, going outside and exploring the great outdoors – whatever gets you moving to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle.
